Priestess of Valerian Priestess of Valerian Black Hat Villain Review
Paul Bettany, a famous warrior priest, lives in a city community ruled over by his church. Priest (2011) นักบุญปีศาจ He lives in an abandoned society that has been ravaged by centuries of civil conflict between vampires and humans. When a vicious pack of vampires capture his niece and kidnap her, the priest violates his vow and sets off on a personal quest to save her before vampires put the final bite on her. His former presbyteress and old friend (Lily Collins) who has supernatural powers accompany him on his dangerous journey. Together, they fight the evil organization who wants to control the human population using a new virus to wipe them out. The charismatic leader Sam Haine commands the vampire group and recruits Victoria (Emma Watson).
The priest and his associates become involved in a power struggle with the current ruler as they seek to thwart the evil group. The current ruler is enslaved by vampires, who become the main threat to the lives and safety of the priests and the rest. The threat is growing and the priest must choose which side to choose.
Annabel Wishston One of the few survivors of the initial outbreak, is back as the Countess. After marrying a wealthy businessman, she was raised in a safe environment. She quickly rises in society and becomes close friends with David (Barry Foster) and defends him from vampires she doesn’t know. In exchange for protection, David allows Annabel to live with him. He joins her in pursuit of Dracula shortly afterward. He is aware that he won’t win, and decides it is time to fall in love again with someone new or with the Countess.
Annabel soon has two new friends, Steve Loughlin (John Loughlin), and Tommy Eliaunder (Eliaunder). They form the core of her vampire hunters who are referred to as the Priests. Although she initially leads them due to her age of woman, soon she realizes that her familial relationships will be more important to her as she pursues the enemy. We see the women supporting Dracula and participating in his hunt.
The novel is centered on the relationship between the Priestess and Dracula, there are others that are not so readily apparent. There are the priests who assist the Priestess and help her fight the vampires. These are the Walled Cities. These were cities that were completely isolated from the outside world and only had the assistance of a self-made defense force by the Priests. The Walled Cities were not only intended to shield the inhabitants from Dracula but also from other dangers.
One scene in the film shows the Priestess giving directions to the young girls who assist her in her mission. One of the directions is to kill all vampires they encounter. When the girls and Priestess are found dead they are cremated and their souls are held within the Walled City. The movie then cuts to 15 years later where the priestess is being questioned by an investigator.
During this time the movie gives us another look into the thoughts of priests in this period. When they attempt to explain to the investigators the events that took place, they are distracted by their own past. They grieve the deaths of their sisters and wish that they had been able to help them in their deaths. The film offers a glimpse into how a vampire would see the world around them, which includes both the good and evil that was prevalent at the time.
The film was enjoyable to watch. It’s enjoyable for old and young viewers. The acting was great and the story was well told and the special effects were excellent. I hope that some one will watch this movie because of its excellent vampire film and be enticed to go to the next film: “Priestess of Valerian”.
